Dstl is responsible for designing, developing and applying the very latest in science and technology for the benefit of UK defence and security, across government. In our work, we partner with other brilliant people – collaborating with everyone from small companies and world-class universities, to large defence organisations and other nations. Together, we develop battle-winning technologies, based on deep and widespread research.
On this apprenticeship, you’ll spend about 20% of your time on an off-site training scheme. But you’ll spend the remainder of your time at our POrtsdown West site, Fareham, contributing to our impactful work. Initially, you’ll provide analysis support across all levels of the Ministry of Defence and UK security, going on to deliver this evidence directly. You’ll learn how and where relevant data is collected and enable easy interpretation. It means you’ll get to grips with tried and tested models, but you’ll also experiment with newer techniques of analysis.
You’ll have a minimum of three A-levels (or equivalent), with at least one in a STEM field. With excellent computer literacy, you’ll be able to work with data and you’ll understand how it can be used and presented. Importantly, you’ll work well within a team, take your own initiative and be keen to learn new skills.
