You will quickly learn how to work on live legal matters and have contact with clients. You won’t be thrown in at the deep end; your training will be carefully planned and you will work in a supportive team environment but will be doing a real job and contributing to the DAC Beachcroft business. As a paralegal apprentice you can expect to be assisting lawyers with their caseload, with close supervision, and you will also have the opportunity to attend various types of hearing.
The Employment & Pensions Group at DAC Beachcroft LLP is over 90 lawyers with offices in London, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Bristol. As a whole, the national group advises major corporates and high profile public sector organisations on the full range of human resource and employee relations issues, from handling disciplinary, capability and grievance matters, recruitment and exit of senior staff, to strategic management issues such as redundancy programmes, transfers of employees, industrial action and all forms of dispute resolution.
As a paralegal apprentice, some of the typical tasks you can expect to be involved with include: preparation and collation of correspondence and reports, organising litigation disclosure and hearing bundles, conducting legal and business research, reporting on case law developments, attending Tribunal and Court hearings, assisting with searches and compiling responses to ’data subject access requests’ plus more general administration duties such as maintaining an effective filing system and answering telephone helpline calls.
DAC Beachcroft recognises and rewards hard work and therefore you can expect to start on a competitive salary and will be entitled to a number of benefits such as pension, life assurance, medical care, bike to work scheme, discounted gym membership and season ticket loans. We also offer a range of interesting social activities and involvement in a variety of Corporate Social Responsibility events.
Additionally, you will have the equivalent of 20% of your weekly contracted hours to use towards your study, in order to focus on the educational side of your apprenticeship. This will include a mixture of interactive webinars and face to face study sessions.
