We are seeking a highly motivated and conscientious Apprentice who is interested in working in Financial Services, and more specifically in Asset Management. The successful applicant will be working in the front Office Operations - with the Equities FMA (Fund Managers Assistant) and Investment Services (IS) teams.  

This Apprenticeship will give successful candidate a practical introduction to the management and operation of an investment firm, while providing early exposure to a range of business experiences.

Front office Operations

Front Office Operations is a diverse area to work in, across teams with responsibilities for supporting the dealing team, fund management teams, and various other business functions. It is closely linked to other areas of the business, such as investment operations, controls and assurance, and compliance.

The Equity FMA / IS teams provide day to day support and controls of fund management activities, including order management, cash flows, corporate actions, compliance/rules management on funds and some operational activities.

As a Front Office Operations Apprentice, you will support these activities, as well as many others. You will be fully trained and supported by two managers.
 

Your daily duties could include:

Supporting operational controls to Fund Managers

Helping maintain desk procedures and how to guides

Helping improve processes and controls to minimise risks

Getting involved with meetings and representing the teams with other departments

Assisting with business as usual projects

Learning about various fund franchises

Supporting Fund Managers in their day to day investing, including order generation, corporate actions elections, compliance warnings/blocks on orders

Actively participate in training across all areas / teams, to give you a broad understanding of the role in general, and the many varying bespoke requirements of each fund franchise.
 

Training Provided

As a Business Administration Apprentice with BPP, you will undertake the Business Administrator Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning, pre-recorded lectures, and face to face inductions and masterclasses.

Skills Required

Good communication skills, both written and verbal

High level of accuracy and good attention to detail

Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines

Basic understanding of MS Office (Word, Outlook)

Strong Excel spreadsheet skills

A proactive team player who is confident about working independently

Logical and analytical approach coupled with intelligence, passion and a drive to learn


Desired:

Some exposure to business/finance studies as school useful, especially Equities or Fixed Income
 

Successful candidate will possess the following qualities:

The role would ideally be suited to a confident individual with a positive outlook and good attention to detail, a desire to learn and with an interest in a career in Finance/fund management. The successful applicant should enjoy working as part of a team and be able to manage their time effectively. The applicant would ideally have an inquisitive, can-do attitude and have an efficient approach.
