What does the Legal Apprenticeship involve?

Legal Apprentices will either work in our Legal Services Centre, or in one of our insurance or commercial legal teams. The majority of the role will involve supporting existing members of the team to run efficiently, working under the supervision of the firm’s qualified lawyers or senior paralegals. During the course of the two-year apprenticeship you will gradually be exposed to more complex legal work.

Throughout the apprenticeship you will have the support of your team members, supervisor and a dedicated mentor.

What will I study?

Legal Apprentices will work towards achieving a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Law and Practice (CILEx), which will be taught by BPP and we will cover all training costs.

What happens after the apprenticeship? We hope all our Legal Apprentices complete their studies and decide to stay with us. Your exact role upon qualification will be determined by the skills and abilities you have shown during the previous two years. In advance of completion we will discuss with you where your skills can be best utilised within the firm.

We would look to offer the majority of apprentices a permanent position as a paralegal.

During your apprenticeship at DWF you will be entitled to 20% of your working week off the job to dedicate time to study.
