Apprentice Information Communications Technician (Advanced Apprenticeship)

Joining Vodafone is more than a job, what we do matters. We don’t just carry minutes, texts and data – we carry people’s lives. And that’s a huge responsibility. If you think for a minute about the people and organisations, you rely on…the likelihood is they rely on us

And what’s it like to work here? We have created an environment where you can look forward to coming to work and are empowered to be at your best. We offer flexibility in how you work that helps you do your job in a way that suits you, a choice of benefits and rewards to suit your lifestyle and opportunities to help you grow and progress throughout your career.

At Vodafone, we firmly believe that we’re at our best when you’re at yours, and that’s why our apprenticeships offer exceptional work and training with exceptional people.

Based in the Technology functional area, our apprentices receive mentoring and training within the Field Delivery team in addition to classroom training to achieve their Level 3 apprenticeship (Information Communications Technician)– all within 18 months.  Alongside this, we offer a competitive salary £21,450 per annum (£24,200 for roles in London within the M25).

Through the Field Engineering apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills and qualifications to become fully competent in fulfilling the Field Technician role within the Field Delivery team upon completion of the scheme.

About the role

During the 18-month apprenticeship, you will learn all of the responsibilities and accountabilities of a Field Technician, which is a key role within the Field Engineering Team. The role of Field Technician is to carry out all Field-based activities associated with building and testing new solutions for our business customers both at customer premises as well as on Vodafone’s core network sites.

The role will also get involved in repair activity, which involves troubleshooting and replacing equipment at customer premises, within the core network and our mobile Radio Access network.

Representing the Vodafone brand and delivering an excellent level of service for our business customers is also a key component of this role.

What we will be looking for in you

We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated with a keen sense of intrigue, a desire to fix anything and everything, great communication and team-working skills and a passion for making the experience of our customers the best in the industry.

The role holder must be willing to travel afield, working away from home on occasion and be comfortable working at heights.  The Field Technician role comes with a Vodafone branded commercial vehicle so you will need to have the ability to park this at or near your home.

We need individuals with the ability to work in a focused and flexible manner, putting the needs of the customer first. Having a passion for technology is also important, as is the ability to learn new skills quickly in this constantly changing and evolving environment.

This role also requires someone who has a flexible attitude to working hours, as the Field Delivery team needs to provide Field resources 24/7, 365 days a year. As such there may be a requirement to work on shift or standby rota’s. Depending on the specific needs of the team in question, our working patterns may include weekday, weekend and night working.

Also you must demonstrate the ability and aptitude to climb and work safely at heights by passing a climbing assessment.

You need to be 18 years or over on 1st Sept 2023 and match the following requirements:

  • A full clean driving license
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths and English at GCSE or A Level, or an equivalent level qualification such as a Level 2 apprenticeship. ** GCSEs in Science subjects desirable.
  • Have lived in the EU for 3 years or more and have the right to work
  • NOT have a qualification already at degree level or higher in the same subject
  • NOT already have studied a similar apprenticeship at Level 3 or higher

Why Vodafone?

So how do we show our appreciation of you? The rewards extend beyond the competitive pay; you’ll enjoy a package of benefits that includes a generous holiday allowance and discounts on your shopping as well as Vodafone products. It will be our ongoing mission to support your personal development – it’s as important to retain our employees as it is our customers!

So, if you love technology as much as we do, this is where it’s at. Shouldn’t you be here too?

We're committed to recruiting the best people, whatever their background. If you have a disability, learning difficulty, medical condition or any other individual need, we'd be happy to talk to you about making reasonable adjustments to our application and selection process that will enable you to be your best.
