The programme

You’re interested in business. And you’d relish the opportunity to not only be immersed in the commercial side of a global company, but to play your own part in its success. Add to that the fact that on this programme you’ll study for a sponsored degree in Business and Management as you gain real-world experience, and this is the perfect way to kickstart your career and get a great qualification, debt free.

What you’ll do

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop your commercial skills on real projects in our Civil Aerospace business. You’ll be involved in diverse business issues as you support the existing commercial teams in identifying risks, and developing commercial proposals and business solutions. You can expect to put in place and manage new business contracts as well as analysing business cases. Across all of this, you’ll gain a detailed insight into how a large, complex company makes a profit and works with its customers, suppliers and partners. Not only that, but you’ll be able to make an impact early on in your career whilst earning a competitive salary.

Over the course of around four years, you'll complete a series of placements with our commercial teams in Civil Aerospace based in Derby. You'll also study for a BA (Hons) in Business and Management at Nottingham Trent University on a day-release basis, paid for by us. We'll support you every step of the way during this time, with structured placements and learning and development objectives plus mentoring and sponsorship from experienced professionals.

At the end of this degree apprenticeship programme, you'll be ready to apply to become a Commercial Officer within Rolls-Royce.

What you’ll need

You’ll have three A-levels (or equivalent) obtained or predicted, at grade B or above to include a numerical or business-related subject (excluding General Studies). Alternatively, a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in a numerical or business related subject at DDM, plus 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at minimum grade C/4 including English Language and Maths. You’ll have a passion for all things business, including an interest in contract management, and a good financial acumen. Problem-solving skills are a must, and you’ll be a natural when it comes to communicating with others and working as part of a team.

What you’ll get

  • A competitive salary starting from £13,830 pa

  • A competitive pension, and 33 days’ holiday per year (including bank holidays)

  • Work with expert mentors and career coaches

  • A BA (Hons) in Business and Management – debt free
