What you'll be doing
Our Apprentice Network Engineers play a key part to ensure that our networks are designed, tested, built and maintained with fresh, new, innovative ideas in mind. There’s a broad array of network roles within BT.
During the course of your apprenticeship you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in a number of areas including testing the latest networking technology, upgrading the existing network and the planning, installing and running of network elements.
You may also get the opportunity to gain in-depth understanding of mobile networks and the technologies that underpin them, playing a part in supporting and maintaining high levels of stability and performance of the biggest and best mobile network in the UK.
Training & Support
Throughout the course of your apprenticeship you’ll gain a wealth of invaluable experience. You’ll also be taught job specific skills such as planning, designing, building and testing simple networks, identifying the key characteristics of a new network service, determining the minimum network capacity of planned networks.
You’ll also learn how to design, build, test configure and optimise a distributed network and how to analyse network performance and troubleshoot typical problems in networks. You’ll be taught the methods required to identify and evaluate network security risks and then incorporate appropriate security products and processes into network designs to increase security, resilience and dependability.
To join our Apprentice Digital & Technology Solutions Level 6 – Network Engineer programme you’ll need to achieve (or be on course to achieve) three A-Levels with a minimum of BCC grades. You’ll also need a minimum of four GCSEs at grades 4-9 (C or above) including English and Maths.
