What you will do        

An apprenticeship with us will see you building new skills, while applying your knowledge to real-world live projects. You will be required to ensure that you adhere to safe working practices and also be able to take instructions and act upon them in a prompt and professional manner.

We are offering a full-time permanent Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship Programme for talented people. This is a genuine alternative to university for people who have a passion for engineering and who want to launch their career with us. The apprenticeship will combine on-the-job work experience, with time at college to achieve a Level 3 Apprenticeship. We are committed to the continuing development of every employee, we encourage and strongly support career progression, with opportunities for qualified apprentices to move on to higher and degree apprenticeships to support their progression and opportunities for promotion within our organization and throughout the Johnson Controls business.

How you will do it 

During this apprenticeship you will learn Fire & electrical engineering skills suitable for commissioning state-of-the-art fire detection systems on large scale projects worldwide.  This is a very exciting, challenging and rewarding role that will provide a start point for a lifelong career within a highly innovative and technical business environment.

 The successful apprentice will enrol on to the Advanced Engineering Design and Draughtsperson Level 3 Apprenticeship standard (electrical pathway). 

The apprenticeship is 3 years in duration during which you will receive off the job training at college to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours in order to be successful in your role.

You will also receive additional training on the job to help you relate your academic learning to real life projects.

Qualifications - External

Minimum of 5 GCSE’s including Maths, English, Science and a technical subject at grade 9-4 (A-C in old grading system) or level 2 equivalent.
Full clean driving license
Enthusiasm to learn and a passion for problem solving
Self-motivated
Good IT skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work both independently and as a team player
Be available to work away from home and work flexible working hours
Although no engineering experience is required, candidates must show an interest in engineering
