About the role

This role will be based in the Gas Transmission Delivery team within the Capital Delivery Directorate of National Grid. Capital Delivery is responsible for the delivery of construction projects across the Gas and Electricity Transmission network.

During the 2 year training programme the Trainee will gain experience and knowledge within the Gas Transmission Delivery department.

On successful completion of the training programme trainees will be given the role of Project Assurance Controller.

Project Assurance Controllers(PAC) are based on construction sites throughout the country where they will ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with the Technical and Contractual requirements whilst promoting and monitoring safety, reliability and efficiency on site. When site works are not active PACs will assist Project Managers with preparatory works, such as liaison and surveying.

During on the job training the trainee will assist with Project Delivery, primarily at an on-site level, they will be mentored through this phase on tasks including:

- Auditing and technical inspections
- Surveying
- On site record keeping and project document updates.
- Management of contractors.
- Liaison with Project stakeholders

The 24-month apprenticeship scheme will consist of:

Foundation Degree with Aston University - This training is delivered over 2 years on a 2-week block release and is delivered at the University facilities in Aston, Birmingham, additional study time outside of the university taught weeks will be required.

National Grid Academy technical, safety and professional training modules delivered by qualified delivery staff - These modules are a selection of business specific and general training modules.
