BMW UK Manufacturing Ltd is a modern, high volume and complex manufacturing Plant and is the birthplace and heart of MINI production. State of the art automation & production IT systems demand skilled specialists who can precisely steer highly automated, innovative technology to ensure non-stop perfection on our production lines. This is the basis for achieving excellence.
Currently 500 industrial production PC’s are maintained by the controls engineering group including PC hardware, operation systems, applications and IT security. As part of Industry4.0 and Digitalistation, new applications are getting developed that will be maintained and operated by you.
Experience. Opportunity. Qualifications. You will get them all on our IT apprenticeships. You'll have three years to study the technology and systems engineering behind our technical equipment, then start to build your specialist career.
You will also spend your apprenticeship working in relevant placements around the business to ensure you fully understand the critical processes related to the IT Assembly systems that ensure the business keeps both the BMW and MINI operations in the UK working efficiently.

Apprenticeship Programme & Career Development
BMW offers an enhanced L6 apprenticeship in comparison to others in industry. The three year programme is designed to allow you to experience all aspects of the Assembly organization, in an exciting manufacturing environment that is constantly changing. You will have the opportunity to build networks across the business and put the skills you will learn to good use, by carrying out projects, working alongside other members of the business and carrying out tasks independently.
The apprenticeship will provide you with a number of different opportunities to support your career development, and you will be provided with the support and guidance you need to ensure your training is successful. Your interest in, and enthusiasm for new technologies will be encouraged through continued learning and development opportunities.
Whilst developing specialist, on-the-job knowledge, you will also undertake a Degree in Digital Technology Solutions.
In order to be successful you will need to be enthusiastic, show initiative and also be able to work under pressure. Good time-management and communication skills are also essential, alongside the ability to think logically and work both independently and as part of a team.
Personal development within the BMW Group never stops! This begins with vocational courses and continues with selective training throughout your career.
A minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade B/6 (or above), including Maths and English.
Plus a minimum of 2 A Levels (or equivalent) in a Technology, Business or Science at grade C (or above) or a BTEC level 3 (60 credits plus) or equivalent in a relevant Engineering or Technology discipline.
A good working knowledge around all MS office packages in particular excel and access data bases would be beneficial. Knowledge in App development, Artificial Intelligence and/or Machine Learning would also be advantageous

Rate of Pay:
A competitive salary enhanced annually depending on individual progress and performance starting at circa £13,000 per annum rising to over £25,000 over the programme.
Company car scheme eligibility to those 18 years and over, plus other benefits including an on-site gym, pension scheme, generous holiday allowance and a subsidised on-site restaurant.
37 hour working week, start and finish times will vary according to work based placements and college hours.
